4 Living are extremely proud to offer a furniture range to suit a variety of different lifestyles, homes and rooms. This is excellently exemplified in their collections of oriental light wood furniture which can greatly complement each other or, equally, improve the atmosphere of a room as individual pieces. Our light wood pieces are made from either oak, sustainable eco bamboo or reclaimed pine with a white lacquer coating and we look forward to the arrival of an ash collection in spring 2011.
The beauty of light coloured wood, whether it’s the contemporary lines and symmetry of the oak collection or the oriental soft fascia of the eco-furniture collection, is that it can be placed in any room, for any effect. It can transform a dark and lifeless bedroom into a place to relax; creating a feeling of space or it can create contrast and complement another piece.
The range of sustainable and stylish Eco-Bamboo furniture is described by managing director Roger van der Matten as “the start of a fresh and exciting phase”. The range, created by designer Jo-Anne Wright comprises of a console table; coffee, bedside and lamp tables; eight and four drawer chests; sideboard; wardrobe; mirror and tall head board. As well as being stylish with its comforting finish and gentle grooves, the Eco-Bamboo really shows 4 Living’s commitment to the environment.
The white lacquered furniture gives a fantastic sense of space and even the larger pieces such as the eight drawer chest or tall wardrobe will not dominate a room. The ever so slightly off-white glossy lacquer finish really spreads light throughout a living space. The nature of the design and finishes, gives you the rare opportunity to choose a piece as a centrepiece to a room or even to compliment the oak or bamboo collections.
Light Wood Furniture In The Dining Room
Creating the right atmosphere in a dining room can often be difficult. A relaxing family meal for example, will feel very different to a formal dinner party with a real sense of occasion. The mark of a good piece of furniture is that it can cope equally well in either scenario. The “double” oak dining table, for example, lends an authentic oriental handmade feel with its simple lines and solid joints. It can be coupled with either the “double” oak bench, so popular in eastern dining, or “double” oak dining chairs to create an atmosphere to suit any occasion. The “double” oak bench wonderfully balances a modern and abstract feel with that very traditional oriental one.
For a truly contemporary dining room setting that leans toward the orient for its inspiration, consider matching your “double” oak dining table and bench or chair set with the 3 or 4 door “double” oak sideboard or the “double” oak chest of 3 drawers. Featuring a display shelf and strong, clean lines, they perfectly complement the other pieces in the range leaving you room to inject your own sense of style through the addition of fabrics or statement art pieces.
Light Wood Furniture In The Living Room
The light wood look is just perfect for the living room too. The “double” oak range here consists of a coffee table, TV unit and storage cupboard with four doors. Both the coffee table and the TV unit come with the distinctive, double top display shelf which, on the one hand is useful for CD player and disk storage and on the other, magazines and coffee cups. The large, 4 door storage unit also has the distinctive double top shape which completes the look and ties in the other pieces. All are built using solid light coloured oak giving a clean and contemporary look with leanings toward the orient.
