1. You know what you’re getting – The beauty of any product labelled ‘organic’ is that is does precisely what it says on the ‘tin’. There can be so much smoke and mirrors, especially in the food industry. An organic certification provides clarity peace of mind. 2. Sustainability – Organic food is changing the way people look at farming. More and more organic groceries are being sourced locally, from farmers who care about the long term sustainability of their industry, as well as their land. 3. The dining room and bedroom can make good cases in their favour but, in my mind, the is no more important room than the living room. The bedroom’s main purpose is to be a place of relaxation, where as the dining room is more of a social meeting place; the living room, however, is a room which has to combine both aspects.  As the physical and social hub of the home, the choices you make in the living room will have quite an impact throughout the rest of the home. What makes the perfect living room? As well and balancing relaxation and sociability, the living room must also blend style with functionality, and your own taste with that of your guests. It can be a [&hellip

We are all about the Feng Shui here at 4 Living! We even wrote a short guide a little while back so you could get involved yourself. We have a strong connection with China, and Asia as a whole, so Feng Shui is an important part of our design philosophy. Given our fascination of Feng Shui, we were surprised to hear that some of its principles have been used thousands of miles from China, in Middlesborough! Traditionally, football grounds will have one end reserved for away fans and the rest of the stadium for home fans. It is considered a definite advantage to be attacking the ‘home end’ so, if given the choice, why not decide to have home fans on both ends. That is [&hellip

We are constantly searching for the most creative and unique interior design ideas, but this was a surprise even to us. We stumbled across a story from 2007, about how an artist managed to create a completely secret apartment in the parking garage. The apartment was built over the course of a few weeks with the help of some of his artist friends, and went under the radar for over three years. What would make someone want to live in a mall? If you are an employed artist, why would you need to create your own secret home? This quote from the artist’s website goes some way to explaining the logic behind the mall apartment: During the Christmas season of 2003 and 2004, radio ads [&hellip

We are constantly bombarded with health and fitness tips, but it’s actually pretty rare to find any tips which you can easily incorporate into everyday life. We can use the stairs instead of the lift and cut down on coffee, but there are some things which seem impossible to avoid. If you work in any kind of office environment, you’ll find yourself slumped in a chair for nine hours a day, five days a week; why not stand? It sounds slightly unusual to stand at a desk, but there are numerous health benefits: Posture – Standing at your desk can improve your posture substantially. Sitting at a desk all day can create an over-curved lumbar. Make sure your new desk is the right height, in [&hellip

China is famous for its strong sense of identity and pride in its heritage; this is perfectly exemplified in its many centuries of furniture design. Contemporary, minimalistic designs are actually not that far removed from traditional oriental designs. The attention to detail of simple minimalistic furniture designs is perfectly in keeping with the clean, clutter free requirements of traditional Feng Shui. Contemporary oriental [&hellip

Take a look at Google’s new interior at their Covent Garden Office. Clearly budget wasn’t a problem, but it’s great to see a healthy and relaxing workplace rather than an expensive, yet lifeless office. At 4 Living, we are all about creating a relaxing and enjoyable workspace. As you can imagine, we are big fans of this. The design itself is great as well. There are so many great features in this relaxed work space design. My personal favourite has to be the dining area (below). Small details, such as arranging the tables into an irregular pattern, give the room a really informal feel and seperate it from the regimental style usually associated with offices. NOTE: Why does everyone have a MacBook? Where are all [&hellip
