4 Living are extremely happy to welcome Danish brand, Skovby, into their ever-expanding contemporary furniture collection. Skovby joins Ethnicraft, Bentley Designs, Heathfield, Newgate, Conran, Polo Divani and many others in 4 Living’s range of designer brands. Although 4 Living are an independent retailer, with their own contemporary oriental furniture collections, they believe that a great and vartied collectiion is better than limiting themselves, and their customers, to one or two styles. Where Skovby can really claim to be unique is that they have been making contemporary furniture, rolling with the times, since 1933. Started by cabinetmaker Thorvald Rasmussen in 1933, Skovby has grown and grown through its 81 year lifetime, eventually into the international award-winning brand we see today.     &nbsp

Check out our newest video: the beautiful ‘Wave’ solid oak sideboard. As with all of Ethnicraft’s pieces it has its own unique character, as well as tremendous versatility. The contemporary clean lines of the Wave sideboard allow it to look fantastic in a contemporary room setting, whilst the general shape of the piece has its roots in a more retro design. you can certainly see some sort of connection between the Ethnicraft Wave sideboard and retro styles such as this. the modular design of the cupboards and drawers are clearly inspired by 70’s styles, but have been given the ‘contemporary treatment’ The solid oak board, running the whole way around the sideboard, helps to create a a visually balanced piece. If you’re looking for any home addition made from wood, the chances are you’ll come across oak numerous times. Even veneers, attempting to look like solid wood, imitate oak more than any other wood. Oak is one of the most popular materials for furniture, doors, floors and just about anything which needs to look good whilst standing the test of time. Due to its solid nature and natural abundance, oak has historically been one of the most commonly used woods for making furniture, beams, door, floors, window frames and nearly anything else you can think. When something is so commonly used, there is always the risk that it will go ‘out of fashion’; that has never been the case with oak as it soft tone [&hellip

An extending table provides the choice, depending on your needs. This kind of versatility makes both day tot day dining and dinner parties much, much easier. Here are our favourites: 1.SKOVBY- Round Extending Table. One of the coolest tables you’ll ever see. You don’t get modern design without designers and manufacturers who are trying to make cutting edge innovations, which is exactly what Skovby have done with this. As you can see in the picture the table starts as a simple circle, and with a little magic, transforms into a much larger table in a [&hellip

In my travels across the internet, I stumbled upon this quirky idea which is, predictably, from the Netherlands! I found this flooring exceptionally interesting, so I had a look at their site to find out more. Dutch flooring brand, Bolefloor have created these quirky and rustic curved floorboards, ignoring ‘the norm’ when it comes to flooring. Bolefloor describe their flooring as a ‘return to a natural state’. The flooring certainly does have a natural feel to it, but the precision and accuracy with which it joins is incredible. You can see in the video below (which has some very interesting music..) the kind of high-tech tools it takes to make something like this. Another thing which drew me towards this brand was seeing that they [&hellip
