We make no secret of the fact that flat=pack furniture isn’t our cup of tea. 4 Living are all about study, hard wearing designs made from solid wood and other natural materials. However, we do like meatballs and free mini pencils. All jokes aside, IKEA is a great way of achieving a contemporary style on a budget. Also, meatballs. IKEA may not be for us, but they sure do have some neat ideas. This new app for Android and iOS enables you to re-enact the famous parody from Fight Club by virtually projecting furniture on to your phone screen, enabling you to view the furniture ‘in the room’. It’s pretty darn cool. Online shopping relies on giving the best impression of the product as possible. [&hellip

Dining tables make up a large percentage of what 4 Living sell, but it’s not that often that we can get a new one into our showroom to film it. You can imagine our joy when this Ethnicraft ‘Double’ solid oak dining table entered the room! The Double table features Ethnicraft’s signature blend of rustic natural oak with cutting edge European design. Unlike the Straight table, which is one of our favourites, the Double is an extremely chunky design. The Straight benefits from its refined look, where as the Double is more of a contemporary statement, and doesn’t care who knows it. As you can see in the video, the table has inset block legs. The inset legs provide a really unique touch, and the [&hellip

We are big believers that a dining table  should be multi-purpose and versatile. No two days are the same, and you might need more space on some days than others. An extending table provides the choice, depending on your needs. This kind of versatility makes both day tot day dining and dinner parties much, much easier. Here are our favourites: 1.SKOVBY- Round Extending Table. One of the coolest tables you’ll ever see. You don’t get modern design without designers and manufacturers who are trying to make cutting edge innovations, which is exactly what Skovby have done with this. As you can see in the picture the table starts as a simple circle, and with a little magic, transforms into a much larger table in a [&hellip

In my travels across the internet, I stumbled upon this quirky idea which is, predictably, from the Netherlands! I found this flooring exceptionally interesting, so I had a look at their site to find out more. Dutch flooring brand, Bolefloor have created these quirky and rustic curved floorboards, ignoring ‘the norm’ when it comes to flooring. Bolefloor describe their flooring as a ‘return to a natural state’. The flooring certainly does have a natural feel to it, but the precision and accuracy with which it joins is incredible. You can see in the video below (which has some very interesting music..) the kind of high-tech tools it takes to make something like this. Another thing which drew me towards this brand was seeing that they [&hellip

Adding organic mattresses and natural latex mattresses has been one of the biggest additions 4 Living has made since they started. It was a no-brainer to go down the ‘organic route’ as the company and team all had a passion for promoting a natural lifestyle. Natural materials are used throughout the furniture ranges, making natural mattresses a logical progression. Being a relatively new idea, and sometimes quite a niche, there can be a lot of questions relating to organic mattresses. We include an awful lot of advice and facts on our our site and blog, but it can be a lot to take in. We decided to put together an organic mattress Q&A with 4 Living Director, Roger van der Matten. He was a little [&hellip

The cornerstones of a stylish contemporary interior are light and space. If you can make these big features of your home, you’ll be able to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, as well as an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. One of the biggest problems in creating a light and relaxing home is the ever-accumulating ‘stuff’ which clutters our floors, surfaces, walls and ceilings. I use the term ‘stuff’ because clutter doesn’t mean that your house is messy or dirty, there are just too many things in the wrong place! Here are our 3 tips to help you create a more flowing and relaxing space: Be Ruthless – This is the easiest and most diffusely one, simultaneously. Most of us have the tendency to keep things slightly longer than [&hellip

-Hi Alf, Thanks giving us some of your day to do this interview Hello Alex. My pleasure. -How long have you worked for Ethnicraft and what exactly does your role entail? I have been working for Ethnicraft since 1995 when they first started importing a single container with furniture and decorative items. In a next phase the decision was made to design a manufacture furniture themselves. This progression was taken further and further over the years. I am now in charge of all sales in the UK. -What has been the biggest change/progression since you have been part of Ethnicraft? Since day 1 it has been a rapid evolution and constant progress in design, manufacturing and distribution. We have moved premises three times due to [&hellip

We are all about the Feng Shui here at 4 Living! We even wrote a short guide a little while back so you could get involved yourself. We have a strong connection with China, and Asia as a whole, so Feng Shui is an important part of our design philosophy. Given our fascination of Feng Shui, we were surprised to hear that some of its principles have been used thousands of miles from China, in Middlesborough! Traditionally, football grounds will have one end reserved for away fans and the rest of the stadium for home fans. It is considered a definite advantage to be attacking the ‘home end’ so, if given the choice, why not decide to have home fans on both ends. That is [&hellip

DISCLAIMER: Appreciate how good looking this clock is before trying to figure out how it works! This geometrically perfect, ultra-conntemporary wall clock is the creation of designer, Nazar Sigaher. The clock is made of from two white metal frames which, through synchronised movement, combine to display the time. To create a seemingly simple design with such complexity and aesthetics is exactly what innovative contemporary design is about. Clocks are so common that it’s easy for their designs to become predictable and decidedly vanilla. In most people’s eyes, clocks can either be analogue or digital, which is far from reality. Here’s how Nazar Sigaher describes the piece: The hour and minute hands of Frame have frames made of material identical to that of hour and minute [&hellip
