Our showroom also displays our range of natural mattresses – made from healthy, organic materials – the ideal complement to our bedroom furniture range. East Sussex as a county varies greatly in architectural styles and conventions, for instance:

Lewes, the historic county town of East Sussex, is situated five minutes away from the 4 Living showroom and in the heart of the picturesque South Downs. As an actively eco-friendly and environmentally aware community, the town is well suited to our natural mattress range of 100% organic mattresses. The collection, which features organic mattresses handmade in Germany and Wales, has multiple mattresses for all different preferences and body types.

Known for its majestic Crown Court and medieval castle, Lewes is also suited to 4 Living’s Oriental Lacquer range. The traditional oriental and distressed style of the pieces, such as a large sideboard with its straight edges and lacquered panels, really complements the wooden beams and floorboards which are typically found in the town.

In contrast, Brighton is the buzzing modern and artistic hub of East Sussex. Fashion and innovative architecture helps Brighton to stake its claim as one of the most unique cities in Europe. Known for its vibrant nightlife as well as its abstract art scene, the city is suited to a whole host of different furniture styles. An oriental lacquer dining table for example, will give the sense of occasion which is characterised in the Taj Mahal style Brighton Pavilion. The other side of the city’s personality is all about modern and stylish designs to complement the city’s lifestyle. The new contemporary indoor Teak range that 4 Living are proud to offer has the straight lines and symmetry you would expect from a contemporary piece, but also retains a strong ‘raw’ feeling with its very obvious wooden grain and panels. This contrast of styles just sums up the character of Brighton.

Lewes and Brighton are also fantastic examples of the ‘vintage modern’ look which has had a large part in the development of both furniture and interior design in the last few years. The juxtaposition of having a vintage piece of furniture in a modern room, coupled with abstract art prints or other cleaner cut pieces of furniture, enables you to create a space to suit any atmosphere.

Our East Sussex furniture showroom is only a few miles from the seaside towns of Seaford and Eastbourne. The rustic designs of some of our solid wood pieces have the rugged nature of driftwood, coupled with the sleek and cotemporary lines of modern furniture. A nourished and grainy wood such as Teak is perfect for the natural, airy and fresh nature of the south coast.

Contemporary lighting is a fantastic way to accessorise whilst providing your home with vibrancy, colour and light. Our beautiful range of brass lamps have a distinctive maritime feel to them and the nautical connotations of a polished brass lamp make it perfect for a coastal home.
